This here's a picture of me from about 1993 taken up 2-miles in the air on the island of Maui. I'm sitting on the edge of the Haleakala crater. Shoulda took off my sunglasses, but I forgot to. Sorry. It's musta been that thar thin air or something. The air was pretty thin at 2-miles up, climbing that little hill was a lot harder than I thought it would be. At one edge of the rim you can look out into the crater itself, which looks like the moon or someplace. The other edge gives you a breath-taking vista of the island and the ocean, and the neighboring islands to the West (behind me).
My wife Patricia took the picture. She had to stand behind the camera to do that, so she's not in this one. Funny how that works, eh? However, she is in this one.
To my right and out of the picture are the observatory domes of "Science City" -- which is kind of overshadowded by the bigger equipment at the famous observatorys on the Big Island. With those binoculars I could see the domes over on that island, too, off to the East. Top of the world, ma!
Yep, I'm above the clouds. This was our first trip to Maui. We wanna go back.
However, from a lower elevation, here I am in Honolulu.
I went to Arizona once, too.
