Ken in the early '80s
This picture was taken in the early 1980s when I lived in Beaverton Oregon. Well, actually I lived in Cedar Mill, which was an unincorporated area to the North of Beaverton. I lived in what was called a "detached condominium" which appears to be also called a "house" as far as I could tell. They were all arranged around a common courtyard ... well, actually it was a driveway. It was constructed at the edge of a bit of pine forest, which was nice.
I don't remember what I was laughing about. That's why my face is red and I've got that silly expression. I was laughing and trying not to, after all a portrait is a serious occasion and stuff, right? At least that's what they'd like you to believe. I don't remember this photo session at all. And where did that red background come from, anyway? Why red? I don't know.
I pretty much look like this now, except my beard is mostly grey. I'm sure the rest of my hair will follow along shortly. I still have shirt pockets full of junk -- pocket protectors, notebooks, flashlights, and other handy and useful items -- I'm sure you're the same way, right? Right? No?
Photo by David L. Harris, my oldest friend ... he's even older than I am by 19 days or so. He was born in Hawaii, so he's got a strange outlook on life, the universe, and everthing. I've been to Hawaii twice now, and I plan to go back just as soon as I can aford it. In other words, don't you be holding your breath, now, you hear?
Bigger version of this picture. Warning this is 200,565-bytes, and 500 x 600 pixels! That's a big file, so if you're reading this by modem, you might not want to click to see it, unless you've got more patience that I have, by golly.
So, howcome you don't have a picture of yourself the way you look now, you ask? Well, sir, I'll tell ya: I don't know. But as soon as I get one, I'll put it right here, and you'll be the first to know.
